The Institute

Institute of Goaltending was founded in 2015 by Danish national team veteran Sebastian Dahm. The school was built on one principle: that high-quality goaltender training should be accessible to young, ambitious athletes. The school was put on hold in 2020.

Later, elite goaltending coach and development specialist Nicolai Heine took over leadership of the institute with a clear vision for the future: to be a prestigious place for learning and development that not only shapes top-class goaltenders and well-rounded people, but also contributes to developing and researching the goaltending craft.

Nicolai Birk Heine

Head Instructor & President ved Institute of Goaltending

Nicolai is an experienced goaltending coach with over 16 years of experience developing goaltenders of all ages — and mentoring other coaches. He's known for his thorough and thoughtful approach to the game, combining technical precision with a genuine love of hockey (he'll say himself he's just a big kid who misses playing). Heine has led goaltender development across several organizations, previously served as Head Instructor at Institute of Goaltending before stepping into his current leadership role, and has since 2022 contributed to the development of national team goaltenders through the Danish Ice Hockey Union. His mission is clear: to help goaltenders become the best version of themselves while developing and refining the art of goaltending.
